100-Day Review is Launched

The Queensland Government has released the Terms of Reference for a 100-day review examining the need for new infrastructure for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This review will assess the practicality, cost-effectiveness, and community benefits of proposed developments, including the controversial 55,000-seat stadium in Victoria Park.

The review focuses on five key areas -

  1. Infrastructure Needs: Evaluating whether new facilities are essential or if existing venues can be upgraded.

  2. Affordability: Ensuring projects align with budget constraints and deliver value for money.

  3. Deliverability: Assessing the feasibility of completing projects on time.

  4. Legacy: Examining the long-term community benefits of any proposed infrastructure.

  5. Sustainability: Considering the environmental impact of developments.

While the review promises independent oversight, concerns remain about the potential for decisions that could sacrifice green spaces like Victoria Park for short-term objectives. The community is encouraged to make their voices heard during this critical period.
